Vulkoprin develops, implements, monitors and evaluates an organizational policy aimed at continuously reducing waste and using raw materials more efficiently.
Prevention: “Not-producing” is the best contribution to sustainability
Vulkoprin polyurethane wheels and technical moulded parts are made from raw materials that lead to a product with “durable” wear. In this way, the product remains operational longer than alternative PU’s and will therefore be replaced and reproduced less quickly.
Remanufacturing
Vulkoprin offers a service where the wheel is refurbished according to a certified process.
The worn polyurethane is removed from the wheel cores in an environmentally friendly way.
Recycling
Vulkoprin R&D, together with a number of key suppliers and customers, investigates the technical and economic possibilities to evolve towards a circular economy.
Recovery
The use of environmentally friendly energy sources, permanent monitoring and lean processes, guarantees that the company’s objectives are achieved with minimal impact on the environment.
Disposal
The Waste Framework Directive sets the basic concepts and definitions related to waste management, including definitions of waste, recycling and recovery.
The Waste Framework Directive lays down some basic waste management principles. It requires that waste be managed
- without endangering human health and harming the environment
- without risk to water, air, soil, plants or animals
- without causing a nuisance through noise or odours
- and without adversely affecting the countryside or places of special interest
It explains when waste ceases to be waste and becomes a secondary raw material, and how to distinguish between waste and by-products. The Directive also introduces the “polluter pays principle” and the “extended producer responsibility”.
The foundation of EU waste management is the five-step “waste hierarchy”, established in the Waste Framework Directive. It establishes an order of preference for managing and disposing of waste.
